This exhibit includes candid photographs of local artists, store owners, baristas and everyday folks who are regulars at Six and Main and other places in Shelbyville.
Mari’s goal as a photographer is to unearth the beauty in everyone, anything and everything. She has produced several series of photo-ethnographies (portraits and testimonies) of Mothers and Daughters, Transwomen, Latina Immigrants, Survivors of domestic violence and KY Women Veterans. Her portraits compellingly highlight the “humanity and awesomeness of the individuals” she photographs.
Pen Waggener has been photographing people in Shelbyville and in his coffeehouse/bookstore where he supports aspiring and established artists and features books by many local authors.
