Cultivating Creativity Group Show for Former Students of Kevin Schultz
Dates: September 20 – October 31,2019
Events: Opening Reception – October 4th, 5:30 – 9:00pm and Trolley Hop October 4
It was a dream for high school art educator Kevin Schultz, to showcase some of the outstanding photographic artworks
that her students created over her 17 years of teaching at New Albany High School. Mrs. Schultz retired in May 2019
and this show is an exhibition of works created while students were in Media Arts and Photography classes
during her teaching career. Some of these artworks were award winners in the Regional Scholastic Art Awards,
The Congressional Art Competition, Ivy Tech’s Art Jam Competition, and St. James Art Fair High School Student Art Competition.
While not all of the creators have pursued careers in photography or art, the works selected for exhibition show the opportunities
that students had to develop and express their unique ideas through the medium of photography, and how art not only enriches
the lives of the students but also the audience who views it.
The photographs in this exhibition will be for sale and the proceeds from sales will go to the Art Awards Fund, which provides
monetary awards for middle school and high school students in the New Albany Floyd County Secondary Art Competition
for exemplary works of art.
