This show, part of the larger Afloat on the Ohio project, features photos by John Nation and Joe Wolek taken on a 2019
canoe trip on the Ohio River from Portsmouth, OH to Louisville. The Afloat project is inspired by the life, art, writing
and environmentalism of Harlan Hubbard (1900-1988). 2019 will see several museums, galleries and academic institutions
coordinate in focusing on the Ohio River. The shared purpose of this mutually supportive group is to call attention to the
River-its beauty, needs, and unmet potential. This collaborative cultural effort will include themes of history, the river as
inspiration, shanty boats and the environmental significance of the Ohio.
