“My goal as a visual artist is to lead the eye through an image with the same effect that a storyteller weaves a tale. With these images of nature, the photograph is like a dream made tangible. It represents a physical extension of a memory for me. But I want to go beyond just recording a time and place; I want to capture what I feel in that moment.”

Vyncex’s Urban Archaeology is a series of still life photographs, documenting found objects discovered in abandoned places. The subject matter consists of often unorthodox items, such as drug paraphernalia, which are photographed in their original location, in a natural or manipulated composition. This exhibition showcasesVyncex’s perspective through his exploration of Louisville, Kentucky, and the pieces uncovered within, as he preserves artifacts and documents the narrative of the modern condition.
Vyncex Gorlami is a multidisciplinary visual artist with a focus on documenting the contemporary through the lens of alternative media. Living and working in Louisville, Kentucky, Vyncex defines his style of photography as social documentary photojournalism, cycling between both independent and mainstream media. His body of work frequently omits an objective viewpoint, enticing the viewer to examine the message from an unfamiliar perspective.
