We are dedicating the 2017 Louisville Photo Biennial to Julius Friedman. Julius, who died on July 16 this year, was a cornerstone of the Louisville arts community. He was an internationally famous designer, photographer, artist, book maker, galley owner, timeless contributor to local arts organizations and artists, and most of all, our friend. His work and life brought joy and visual richness to this community, and he always found ways to engage different audiences. They ranged from adults to children, and from the most sophisticated to the newly interested viewer. These qualities and talents were a model and an inspiration to us all, and a legacy which affects us today and reaches into the future.
