New Albany-Floyd County Library 2013

October 19th is the 11th Annual International home Movie Day. In celebration of New Albany’s Bicentennial, a Home Movie Day Screening will be part of the New Albany Bicentennial Film Series.
The New Albany-Floyd County Community is invited to submit original home movies in 8mm, Super 8mm, VHS, or DVD for inspection and consideration for screening (depending on condition) on Home Movie Day to a community audience. Due to this being a Bicentennial Year home movies shot in and around New Albany – Floyd County will receive preference when considering for screening.
The actual events to take place in coordination with the Home Movie Day will be the “How-To” Home Photo and Film Preservation Day on October 9th from 6:30pm-8:00pm and the Home Movie Screening Day on Saturday October 19th from 1:30pm-4:30pm.
During the “How-To” Matthew Eidem will give basic tips on how to take care of your Movies and Photos at home, what to use to clean them, how to store them, etc. This course will be limited to the first 15 people who register. They can call the library at 812.949.3527 for more information.
During the Screening Day there will be a 15 minute talk on where home movies sit in the public record. There will also be a footage of the 1937 Flood Film and footage of the 1963 Sesquicentennial Parade.
