    Events: Opening Reception September 27 6:00 – 8:00pm,
    Tour with Artist September 28, 1:00 – 3:00pm

For his second solo exhibition with Moremen Gallery in the Louisville Photo Biennial, the artist, Vinhay Keo,
    presents
“Dancing In Darkness” and poses the question of “What does it mean for the traumatized and marginalized bodies
to dance?” Historically and presently, photography has been utilized as a tool of colonialism and employed as a weapon
of war on the “Other”. Presented with a historical burden that aims to render stillness into affected bodies, dance is
presented as a resource for pleasure and to resist the flattening of photography.

A current MFA candidate at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), Vinhay Keo is a queer Cambodian-American artist
who examines how historical residues play out in contemporary frameworks. Through an interdisciplinary approach,
the work derives from his own intersectional identity and its connection to a larger historical context.
