Sam English is a Louisville, Kentucky based freelance photographer. Although his photographic interests cover a wide range, his ongoing projects include horse and rider, the Louisville Ballet and portraits. He can be found wandering racetracks, farms, streets, studios and backstage in search of another photograph.
“My goal has been to capture the dancers, artists and the company move from rehearsals to stage. The public sees the final product, a finished show, but the hard work getting from studio to stage is beautiful to watch and a challenge to capture. I want people to see what happens behind the scenes and backstage. Their hard work, discipline, atleticism, artistry, beauty and personalities combine to make the Louisville Ballet a compelling photographic subject.”
