Matt Love’s photography affirms a state of mind held commonly amongst twenty-somethings in small- town settings. Urban landscapes are characterized as reliquaries to skeptics coming of age, reflecting the tension between youth culture and the environments of their upbringing. He observes growing pains in his subjects. They portray alienation and disillusion with their surroundings, pitting present against past. Some are folding to outward forces, others purposefully reinventing their habitat. His subjects seem to ask themselves “Is this the world I want to live in? What changes can be made? Do I need to change?”
