The Way I See It by John Gilkey
Dates: September 29 – October 20, 2017
Events: Opening Reception: September 29 at 5:00-7:00 pm
Photography gives me the ability to share pieces of my life with those around me. When I look through the lens of my camera, I see a canvas upon which I can share the beauties of the world in which we live. I capture individual moments of time and place and bring them to life in my photographs. I am not so much concerned with conveying the exact details of what I see as I am with conveying the experience I have lived. Photography is your window into my world. Enjoy!
John Gilkey has been a professional photographer for more than 50 years, starting as a wedding photographer in the ‘60s and later rising through the ranks of The News and Tribune (formerly The Evening News) for 37 years before joining the Clark-Floyd Counties Convention and Tourism Bureau as its first Director of Communications. His love is travel photography which has captured his attention in recent years. A Nikon shooter, he has transitioned from film to digital photography over the decades and says he loves sharing the scenes he finds in front of his camera lens.
