Participating Artists:Robert Ladislas Derr, Rachael Banks & Lauren Wesley

Robert Ladislas Derr
MFA, Rhode Island School of Design
BFA, Art Academy of Cincinnati

Robert Ladislas Derr translates the world around him through visual manifestations that leave the viewers with a sideways glance. For Derr, life is a performance–it sets the stage for his making.

Rachael Banks
MFA, Texas Woman’s University, Denton, TX
BA, Bellarmine University, Louisville, KY

In her recent series, Between Home and Here, Banks focuses on intimacy and human relationships that exist within conflict. This work examines individual notions of place and its effect on personal identity and growth.

Lauren Wesley
MFA, School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
Post-Baccalaureate Certificate, School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
BA, DePauw University, Greencastle, IN

Lauren Wesley’s latest project deals with the constructed landscape of the botanical garden glasshouse. These spaces function as both a living museum and a manmade oasis. The artificial landscape is also an idealized one. Plants from different continents grow contentedly beside each other; all are equally dependent on their container for survival.
