“All pretensions and societal standards are off. We are constantly forced to ignore our inner animal. As a result many live in a stream of equivocations, never allowing their wild inner self to develop.
My work is raw. I shoot film and I do not edit the work. I do not use lights or fancy tripods. We work to create an environment where there are no rules, standards, pressures, or pretenses. This is the wildness that happens when we let go. The images might seem somewhat deranged or scary to some, but the release typically ends in genuine laughter. In fact, I have had to stop shoots because I can barely hold the camera any longer due to laughter.
We forget society, we release everything, we explore the edges of who we are, and we have fun while doing it.” -Gene Hale
“My first experience in the darkroom told me I had finally found my passion, which called on my strengths rather than my weaknesses. Some early successes, included several photographs published in a coffee table book “Image Is Rochester,” gave me confidence to exhibit my work to the public. I have exhibited my work in many venues in NYC and around the country, including Rochester, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, Pittsburgh, among others.” -Lodiza LePore
