The Howard Steamboat Museum, 1101 E. Market St., Jeffersonville, In., will present a photographic exhibition entitled;” THE HOWARD COLLECTION; AN ERA, A SHIPYARD, A FAMILY’, from Oct.1 through Oct 31,2013. The formal opening of the exhibit will be Sunday, October 13th, from 1-4pm. The photos selected for exhibition are from over 1500 images in the Howard collection which were taken over a 50 year period from 1885 through the mid 1930’s by Capt. Jim Howard and his brother Capt. Clyde Howard.
The exhibition documents the steamboat era, the workings of a busy shipyard and an intimate look at the lives of the Howard family. Selected from over 1200 glass plate negatives and 300 recently rediscovered film negatives, these images offer a glance at a way of life which will never be repeated. Many of the images have never before been publicly displayed.
